Taking part in the Uckfield Revival 2018
Having recently moved to Uckfield (East Sussex), I’ve seen some amazing classic cars on the roads – especially a large proportion of American hotrods. When I saw a poster advertising the “Uckfield Revival” 2018, I thought it would be a good place to see some local classics in one place (and meet their owners).
In celebration of my BMW E30 passing its MOT a few days before, I decided to take part. I’m so glad that I did as it was a superb event with a wide range of classics, from “Rat Rods” to high-end restorations. Such a wide variety of makes and models were present that there was something for everyone.
We met at the Highlands Pub (round the corner from where I live). Everyone was so friendly and happy to talk about their pride and joy. This is something that I love about the classic car community. It was quite a moment when the “Rat Rods” convoy from Eastbourne rolled in with rumbling V8s, chopped roofs and rusty bodywork. Quite a sight in the Sussex countryside!
Once all 80 cars had gathered, we proceeded down the Uckfield High Street much to the surprise of the general public. The cars were then parked on a local field to give people the chance to get a closer look. My E30 was definitely one of the more “modern classic” vehicles there. I had some fantastic conversations with several car owners (which I hope will lead to more articles in the future).
Here are some of my favourite photos from the event:
